The Lucky Seven

So Mae Clair tagged me in The Lucky Seven. Until today, I’d never heard of it before and had no idea how it worked. Now I know, and thanks to Mae for the nomination.

Today, I dance with my eyes closed.

Here’s how the challenge works:

Post seven lines from an unpublished work by following these rules:

Go to page 7 or 77 in your current manuscript (fiction or non-fiction)
Go to line 7
Post the next 7 lines or sentences on your blog as they are (no cheating, please!)
Tag 7 other authors to do the same

From DEAD RECKONING, page 7:

She twisted, tangling his fingers into strands of hair. Better to lose some hair, than her life. Except he didn’t release her. His other arm slid around her neck, the knife’s sharp edge nicked tender flesh just below her ear. The cut stung like a wasp bite.

“’Dis is only a sample of how it feels, Katya.” Hot, tobacco breath washed across her face.
