About Stanalei

My first writing award came from my high school creative writing class.
The award: A coupon redeemable for a future writing assignment.
The contest: The wildest excuse ever for not turning a homework assignment.
The topic: UFO abduction.

Many of my stories are romantic suspense; filled with action-adventure woven through dangerous circumstances. Although, I like to dabble on the edge of sci-fi, too. I've been fortunate to have my stories final in a few contests.

I truly enjoy my membership with the Romance Writers of America and the Utah Chapter of Romance Writers. Both provide invaluable insight to the wonderful world of writing romance.

When not at home in the Salt Lake City area, my husband and I are camping or traveling the United States to visit our beautiful National Parks and Monuments.

My feelings about writing haven't changed much from the first magical time I put stories on paper. Below is my attempt to explain the unexplainable.

Why I Write

The things I have written,
were written for them.
The wild imaginings of my youth.
My youth,
where thoughts and dreams grew
in an untended garden.
I put into those words the feelings I wanted to feel,
not the ones that were real.
Knowing for a surety what I said was not Truth.
But wanting others to see that I, too, could feel deeply.
Wishing it were so, didn't make the Real go away.
Wanting it so, didn't help me understand why.

There is no excuse for poetic dreams.
There are only those words that seem
Greater than my youth.
Greater than me.
